FAQs:

Have questions about building, maintaining or just owning a pool? We've assembled some questions below to help you know what to expect. How does the construction process work?

First, our staff will work with you to finalize the design, options, type of decking, and other such details, including getting homeowner association (HOA) approval, and construction permits as required. Once all details are finalized, we will commence with excavation. Next we lay the steel foundation and the plumbing for your future pool. After the city inspects the steel foundation (as applicable to your city or counry), we will gunite your pool. Gunite is a process of shooting concrete through a hose, which allows us to build pools in almost any shape imaginable. After the pool is gunited, you may not see us for a few days, as the concrete needs time to cure. Then we will start laying the decks and tile and coping (coping is the material immediately around the edge of the pool.) When all that is done, it is time to plaster your pool! Plastering takes several hours, and then the pool is filled with water. But it's not time to take a dip yet! Unfortunately, your pool is for your viewing pleasure only for a very few days, while the plaster cures and we get the chemical balance just right. After a few days, when the water chemistry is balanced just right, you can take your first plunge into your new Shavano pool.

You will probably wish to landscape your backyard at this time, especially if it is a new home, and most localities require you to erect a fence around the pool (a backyard fence will usually suffice, as long as the gate is kept closed and it meets certain requirements.)

Although the construction process may be unsightly, the final process will be the envy of your neighborhood.

Can you help me design the best pool for my backyard?

Certainly! Our staff will help you select the right size, shape and overall layout of the best pool for the area you have to work with. We understand that each home is different and each homeowner’s tastes and styles are different. We will help you with all of the details, including any add-on options, such as waterfalls, landscaping, etc. that you want to include.

Can you help me with financing my pool?

Shavano Pool Company does not offer financing. If you are having a new home built, the cost of the swimming pool can often be added to the mortgage. If you are adding a pool to an existing home, we can recommend several banks where you can seek financing.

Will you support and help maintain my pool after it’s completed?

We build relationships. Just because we’ve completed your pool does not mean that our relationship ends. We will be with you to help service and maintain your pool long after it’s finished. The level of involvement we have in maintaining your pool is up to you. We have set up a maintenance schedule to keep your pool in peak condition throughout the year.

How can I be assured you’re using quality parts and equipment when building my pool?

We use only the best parts and equipment available in the industry. When speaking with our staff, you can learn more specifically about the brands that we sell. Our primary supplier, Pool Corporation, is our source for many of the name brands you are probably familiar with.

How can I be assured that your company is a reputable, quality pool builder?

First of all, check our list of references. There is no better way to become comfortable with our quality standards and customer service than to speak directly with our existing customers. You can also check with other local professional organizations to research our reputation and workmanship.
